Our new womenswear designer, Yoshiyuki Miyamae, presented his first collection in Paris in October 2011. After nearly 10 years with the Miyake Design Studio, and working closely with Issey Miyake and Dai Fujiwara on the A-POC project, Miyamae is ready to embrace his new role as designer of the women’s collection. It is the fulfillment of Miyamae’s sincere aspirations that “In clothes making, I want to place value not on superficial design or style elements, but on the thoughts of the wearer and the background of the manufacturing process.”
The ISSEY MIYAKE menswear line starts afresh with the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, taken over by a new design team and changing its brand name to ISSEY MIYAKE MEN. Concentrating on further exploring function, comfort, and wear, it continues to create clothing combining usefulness and freshness which will resonate with today’s working man and fit instinctively into his lifestyle.
PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE is clothing designed to suit a modern lifestyle. Styles come in simple shapes and diverse colors; meant to be worn in layers or individually. Clothing that can be fun or serious, sporty or elegant; PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE is both practical and functional and expresses the individual wearer’s spirit and sensibility.
With a focus on new and innovative textiles, HaaT is directed by Makiko Minagawa, the former Textile Designer of ISSEY MIYAKE. The collection often features handmade details, intricate embroidery and unique dying techniques.
CAULIFLOWER products are light and soft, easy to coordinate and care-for. It unfolds colorful items in a rich variety of shapes, which can be used in everyday situations all year round. It will take advantage of our new technical discoveries to create clothes that reach into the future.

132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE is a new label developed by Issey Miyake and his Reality Lab team. 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE begins with 1 piece of cloth manipulated through 3-dimensional molding that can be returned to a 2-dimensional plane, and creates a 5th dimension when the garment is worn and comes to life. These clothes are striking not only for their unique creation process, but also because they are made using upcycled PET products and other materials.
